Mountain Biking In Colorado

Winter Park, Colorado bills itself as the “Mountain Biking Capital of the World,” with more than 600 miles of marked trails. Aspen, Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Sol Vista, and Steamboat Springs also offer great places to ride. Colorado mountain biking season lasts from early June through late October, depending on the weather.

Hiking In Colorado

There are thousands of hiking trails throughout Colorado, most of them in and around mountain towns. They range in difficulty from easy to technical and expert. On any hike in the mountains, you’re bound to see beautiful wildflowers, and possibly even wildlife. Rocky Mountain National Park, which is just outside Grand Lake, Colorado, is home to more than 900 species of flora and fauna, 280 species of birds, and 60 species of mammals. Colorado has the distinction of having more 14ers than any other state in the nation. There are 54 Colorado mountains that climb to more than 14,000 feet above sea level.

All across the Rocky Mountains, there’s great fishing, with professional outfitters, guided fishing trips, and plenty of rivers and lakes to explore on your own. In early spring, hungry brown, rainbow, and cutthroat trout are plentiful. The license year for fishing in Colorado begins on April 1.

Vail, Aspen, Grand Lake, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, and Steamboat Springs all have Nordic Centers that offer cross-country skiing. Winter Park has two Nordic Centers within ten miles of the ski resort, which are also close to Sol Vista.

Snowmobiling In Colorado

Grand Lake, Colorado consistently ranks in the top 10 of U.S. destinations for snowmobiling, and for good reason. There are 300 miles of trails, many of which you can access from your hotel, lodge, inn, cabin, motel, inn, or bed and breakfast. The trails are varied, appealing to riders of all abilities, beginner, intermediate, and advanced. The other mountain resort towns of Steamboat Springs, Winter Park, Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, and Aspen, also offer guided snowmobile tours.
